One of my own favourite searched questions from when Bella was a newborn baby.
The ultimate question.
The main reason for singing nursery rhymes on repeat or driving around the block at midnight.
It leaves parents thinking “I don’t care what we had to do, as long as it worked and the baby is asleep”
You may get away with these short term fixes for a while, but soon they will either get tiresome or stop working all together. Then you will start googling again, “how do you get a baby to sleep?????”
Surely there has to be a trick right?! Other parents say there baby sleeps through the night and is easy to put to bed – “what are they doing that I am not”!
I have narrowed this down to:
6 Key Components for Healthy Sleep
Through extensive research and practical application across hundreds of tired, frustrated parents we’ve unlocked the six key components for long, restful sleep for your baby. By focusing on these core practices, parents have had instant success by changing simple parts of their daily life and applying our method.
1. Day Time Routine
Setting up for an evening of peaceful sleep for your baby starts with your day routine.
2. Readiness to Sleep
How do you know if your baby is truly ready for sleep? We show you how to cultivate sleep readiness.
3. The Environment
Creating the right space is essential for settling and sleep.
4. Sleep Associations & Habits
Creating good habits in and around rest time plays a huge part in establishing a routine where sleep is easy.
5. Eating Habits
Feeding your baby at the right times can have a massive impact to the quality of their sleep.
6. Winding Down
Learn how to create an environment of calm, sleep inducing steps right before bedtime.
When all of these 6 steps are combined, your baby will be easier to put to bed and stay asleep longer.
This isn’t a trick or a gimmick.
It’s all about consistency, predictability and age-appropriate methods. Your baby is driven by their body clock, so by doing the same things at the same time each day, you are training their body clock to expect the same pattern and release the sleep hormone, almost on cue.
The best quality sleep occurs naturally, when it is the right amount and at the right times for their body to achieve restfulness. Growth and development thrives when your baby can sleep. Parenthood is more enjoyable when everyone in the household can sleep.
